Paris Special Engagement: Woodkid

In a couple of weeks time, on January 24th, VICE’s new music platform Noisey will be welcoming French musician and creative visionary Woodkid (Videos for Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born to Die’, Katy Perry ‘Teenage Dream’, and performed with Lana Del Rey on his first world tour) to the Eiffel Tower in Paris for a one-off special show, as part of Noisey Special Engagements.

Special Engagements is a global concert series where the fans control the show. The ‘engagements’ for the Paris event are as follows:

Engagement 1: Meet Woodkid at the top of the Eiffel Tower
Engagement 2: Win a personal song dedication
Engagement 3: Choose which new song off his forthcoming album Woodkid will debut in Paris

The whole performance will be live-streamed globally on Noisey.com, and a select few will be able to be at the Eiffel Tower to watch Woodkid perform live!

Formed in Gosport on the Southern English coast. Bear Cavalry aren’t easily pigeonholed. Between the four members they use at least seven different instruments to create a fusion of indie-rock, math, post-rock and world influences. Despite a myriad of off-kilter musical influences, the band still manage to pull off a smart pop sensibility that belies their tender years. Like Everything Everything, Tall Ships, Vampire Weekend and Foals before them, the band combine genres both effortlessly and thrillingly to create enviably complex and accessible music.

On Friday 9th September Push Music hit the Cornershop, Shoreditch and it’s not for milk or a newspaper.

As resident DJ for Scroobius Pip’s infamous club night ‘We Are Lizards’, hipster hangout ‘Session’ at the Queen of Hoxton and Camden’s Proud Gallery, Push Music play alongside the DJ elite; Zane Lowe (Radio 1) Late of the Pier, Ali Love (Justice and Chemical Brother vocalist) Punks Jump Up (Kitsune) Vince Clarke, Paul ‘Phones’ Epworth, Fool’s Gold’s Telephoned, Ghost Poet & Jimmy Edgar.

Standing up for all things electronic, indie and alternative and quickly establishing themselves as London party rockers and known for their hybrid DJ sets of Indie and Electro , Push Music continue to expand the boundaries of rocking a crowd.

Expect some Shoreditch splitting re-edits, new disco, Indie-dance and electro as Push Music are joined by East End favourites…

1996 was a good year for skateboarding. There was “Mouse” and “Welcome to Hell” and for most of us on the East Coast it was the year that Dan Wolfe gifted us skaters with Eastern Exposure 3. In this particular video we got to finally see full parts from our East Coast brethren—and then there was Ricky’s part. I think Jack Sabback put it best when he said that Rick was, “mashing through the streets, riding up peoples’ houses.” Yes, Jack, yes he was.
