Lemonade at the Nest, Dalston
Another great night at the Nest, Dalston with stand out live sets from Karin Park and Age of Consent. I played the warm up set which is great for two reasons 1.) you can play some down-tempo electronica and new disco and keep the club bangers until later and 2.) you have a ringside seat to see the best in new live electric music.
First up were Age of Consent, a two-man take on the modern synth band with some stand-out broody and edgy goth-pop. Norwegian songstress Karin Park headlined and it looked good from the start: the drums were set up with keyboard pedals to play bass and there’s was a vintage Korg MS-20 on stage. Karin and her brother David (Who looked a little like Thor – possibly the norse god of drumming?) played a hybrid of sounds ranging from pop to deep electronica touching on dub-step and danceble euro ballads. Karin’s voice is nothing but impressive sounding like a modern Bjork fused with pop princess Robyn. Worth keeping an eye out for both bands on the live circuit.
